The Yukon is the smallest of the three western Canadian territories, bordering Alaska in the United States. With a population of more than 35,874, it is a good province for immigrants seeking employment opportunities. Yukon’s main industries include tourism, mining, furniture manufacturing, hydroelectric power and handicrafts.
The Yukon Nominee Program allows the province of Yukon to nominate candidates who are eligible to apply to the federal government for permanent residency. Under this program, immigrants can receive a certificate to help them apply for permanent residency with Immigration Canada. The Yukon Nominee Program is administered by the Government of Yukon in collaboration with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Canada-Yukon Immigration Cooperation Agreement.
Applicants should express an interest to work in Yukon. The applicant should be well trained in order to meet the local market, have the desired skills and experience to work in Yukon province. It is meant for those individuals who have demonstrated a desire to immigrate and settle in Yukon Territory
SKILLED
EXPRESS
The Skilled Worker Program is for skilled workers who meet the National Occupational Classification (NOC) qualification types 0, A and B. The program allows Yukon employers to facilitate and sponsor immigrants to Canada for permanent residence. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a relevant position, speak English as a second language (ESL) and have a valid work permit.
The Express Entry program is open to qualified workers who are enrolled in the Express Entry pool and meet NOC Skill Types 0, A and B. This ensures that Yukon employers will have the workforce they need in Yukon.
CRITICAL IMPACT
BUSINESS NOMINEE
The Critical Impact Worker Program is designed for qualified workers who meet NOC Skill Types C or D. This program targets semi-skilled or low-skilled foreign workers for jobs that are in particularly high demand. Applicants must have a job offer from a Yukon employer. Immigrants must have relevant work experience and be proficient in English or French.
The Business Nominee Program is designed for foreign nationals with the business skills to own and operate a business in the Yukon. To qualify for this program, applicants must have a net worth of at least $250,000 and a minimum investment of $150,000; five years of business experience and strong communication skills in English or French are required.

Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and may take up to six weeks from the date of application to qualify as a skilled worker and a critical impact worker. Depending on the status of the application, processing time may be longer. Once nominated, candidates can begin the process of applying for permanent residency or Canadian citizenship.
